Production Manager

FunkyCorp is looking for a Production Manager with a passion for Japan and travel to join our team. We're a hardworking creative international team that enjoys a challenge and loves working on new and exciting projects.

The Production Manager will work closely with Content, Technology, Design and Account Management Teams to create online content, and manage tourism-related content production projects.

What you’ll do:

  • Ensure the smooth delivery of our projects on time, from project kick-off to launch
  • Understand clients’ needs and communicate project progress
  • Create schedules and project plans; coordinate tasks and drive progress/results for projects, as assigned
  • Source, hire and manage external resources (vendors, consultants), with the support of cross-functional teams
  • Identify issues, define course of action with appropriate teams, and report on results to leadership and clients
  • Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the internal processes and project management methods.
  • Competitive analysis and research

The ideal person:

  • Proven production coordination or project management experience at a digital agency or similar environment
  • Experience working in travel and/or in-bound tourism
  • Is an expert in project management methods and best practices (agile methodology ideal)
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both with teams and with clients
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and an adaptable, flexible personality
  • Positive can-do attitude with strong initiative, strong research, and problem-solving skills, and follow through
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Advanced Excel skills highly desirable


  • Strong Japanese language skills across the board in reading, writing, speaking and listening. JLPT N1 or native preferred.
  • 3+ years of professional experience as a Production Manager, Project Manager, or similar role. Client-side or agency-side experience with Travel and/or Tourism prefered.
  • Comfortable with Japanese business practices and culture
  • Interest in Japan, travel and online media
  • Resides in Tokyo or able to relocate to Tokyo area
  • Expert skills in MS Office/GSuite (Word, Excel), and standard office communication and project management applications (e.g., Trello, Jira, Asana, Slack, etc.) 
  • Knowledge of a third language advantageous
