Localization quality controllers (LQCs) support FunkyCorp project managers on localization projects. They ensure localized content reads naturally in their native language and meets our high standards. FunkyCorp is looking for dedicated individuals who are passionate about translation, detail-oriented, and motivated by a challenge.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist in the creation of a terminology list and style guide that aligns with content strategy and clearly defines target-language-specific rules
  • Manage the terminology list and style guide
  • Review content that has been translated and proofread ensuring it is:
    • Consistent with the terminology list and style guide
    • Contextually accurate—some words/sentences may need to be translated differently depending on the context. For example, “subject” can be translated differently in French depending on the context: “sujet”, “objet”, “matière”.
    • Free from mistranslations, grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and unnatural sentence structure/phrasing.
  • Evaluate and report to the project manager on translation quality, raising issues and providing feedback where necessary
  • Answer target-language-specific questions from translators and proofreaders
  • Participate irregular meetings with the project manager and other LQCs
  • Screen proofread the demo version of the localized site before the official launch checking for incorrectly displayed text, corrupted characters, image issues and high-level contextual inaccuracies

You have:

  • 3+ years of professional experience as a translator from English into your native language
  • Professional experience as a Localization quality controller or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in translation, English literature, linguistics, your native language, or similar.
  • Must be a native speaker of the target language, with impeccable grammar and spelling
  • Is fluent in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing)
  • Has significant translation, proofreading and/or quality control experience in the digital field
  • Has uninterrupted access to the internet and is able to check and respond to emails regularly
  • Strong computer literacy including being comfortable using various task management systems, communication apps and presentation/spreadsheet apps for productivity

The ideal person:

  • Has visited or lived in Japan and is knowledgeable about the country and its culture
  • Has experience working on a large-scale localization project with multiple counterparts
  • Has experience working on travel-related contents
  • Has extraordinary attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Has a flexible schedule.
  • Thrives working on fast-paced and challenging projects as part of a dynamic team
